Pools

Shell Material (Gunite, Vinyl, or Fiberglass)

The "skeleton" of your pool determines its shape, longevity, and feel. Gunite (sprayed concrete) allows for custom shapes; Fiberglass is a pre-manufactured shell that is easy to clean; Vinyl liners offer a smooth surface at a lower entry cost.

Circulation and Hydraulics

This is the "heart and veins" of the pool. It involves the pump, filter, and the network of PVC pipes that move water. Proper hydraulic design ensures there are no "dead spots" where algae can grow.

Water Chemistry and Sanitization

Modern pools have moved beyond heavy chlorine smells. Saltwater systems, UV sterilizers, and Ozone generators are used to keep the water safe and crystal clear while being gentler on the skin and eyes.

The Coping and Beam

The "coping" is the cap or edge around the top of the pool wall. It provides a finishing touch and a hand-hold for swimmers, while the "beam" is the structural concrete top of the pool wall that supports the surrounding patio.

Tiling and Interior Finish

The waterline tile is both decorative and functional, as it prevents body oils and dirt from staining the pool shell. The interior finish (plaster, pebble, or glass beads) determines the actual color of the water.

Decking and "Splash Zone" Integration

A pool is only as good as the space around it. This involves choosing "cool-deck" materials that won't burn feet in the sun and ensuring the patio drainage flows away from the pool so dirty rainwater doesn't contaminate the treated water.
